BALURAN NATIONAL PARK
 A PIECE OF AFRICA IN THE HOMEYARD OF EAST JAVA



IF YOU GO TOWARDS THE EAST SIDE OF JAVA ISLAND, THE WEATHER WOULD FEEL HOTTER. THESE AREA HAS LESS RAIN. THE WEATHER WHICH A BIT EXTREME CAUSE A UNIQUE CONDITION FOR SOME FORESTS IN EASTERN PART OF EAST JAVA. THE DRY WEATHER FORM A SPACIOUS SAVANNAH THAT BECOMES  THE HABITAT OF VARIOUS WILD ANIMALS AND PLANTS SPECIES THAT USUALLY GROWS IN ARID AREA.

BALURAN NATIONAL PARK IS A DRY FOREST PARK, LOCATED IN THE REGION OF BANYUPUTIH DISTRICT, SITUBONDO REGENCY, EAST JAVA PROVINCE – INDONESIA. IT PRECISELY LOCATED IN THE NORTHERN DISTRICT OF BANYUWANGI. THE NAME BALURAN IS TAKEN FROM THE BALURAN MOUNTAIN THAT LOCATED IN THIS REGION. ANOTHER NATIONAL PARKS THAT SURROUNDS NOT SO FAR FROM THIS AREA ARE  TAMAN NASIONAL KAWAH IJEN OR MOUNT IJEN CRATER NATIONAL PARK AND ALSO TAMAN NASIONAL ALAS PURWO OR ALAS PURWO NATIONAL PARK INSIDE BANYUWANGI REGENCY AREA.
   




THIS NATIONAL PARK HAS A 25.000 HECTARES LAND AREA AND 3.750 HECTARES OF WATERS AREA WHICH REPRESENTS A UNIQUELY RARE FOREST ECOSYSTEMS WHICH TEND TO BE DRY, SUCH AS SAVANNAH (10.000 HECTARES  OR 40% FROM TOTAL WIDE AREA), MANGROVE FOREST, MONSOON FOREST, BEACH FOREST AND SWAMP FOREST. THE PARK HAS ABOUT 444 SPECIES OF PLANTS AND NATIVE PLANTS OF WHICH ARE TYPICAL AND ARE ABLE TO ADAPT TO EXTREMELY DRY CONDITIONS SUCH AS WIDORO BEKOL (ZIZYPHUS ROTUNDIFOLIA), ASAM JAWA OR TAMARIND (TAMARINDUS INDICA), GADUNG (DIOSCOREA HISPIDA), PILANG OR ACCASIA (ACACIA LEUCOPHLOEA), KEMIRI (STERCULIA FOETIDA), GEBANG (CORYPHA UTAN), TALOK (GREWIA SP), WALIKUKUN (SCHOUTENIA OVATA), MIMBO (AZADIRACHTA INDICA), KESAMBI (SCHLEICERA OLEOSA), LONTAR (BORASSUS SP).

JAVAN LEOPARD ( FELIS PARDUS ) and  JAVAN BLACK PANTHER ( PANTHERA PARDUS )

AS FOR THE RARE ANIMALS,  OTHER THAN JAVAN  BULL ( BOS JAVANICUS) WHICH IS AN ICON OF THIS NATIONAL PARK, THERE IS ALSO A HABITAT OF MORE THAN 26 TYPES OF ANIMALS THAT LIVE IN IT, SUCH AS  FOXES (CUON ALPINUS), BOAR ( SUS Sp ),WILD BUFFALO ( BABALUS BUBALIS ), LUTUNG MONKEY (  PRESBYTIS CRISTATA ), GREY MONKEY ( MACACA FASCICULARIS ), JAVAN DEER ( MUNTIACUS MUNTJAK), TIMOR'S DEER ( CERVUS TIMORENSIS ), JAVAN LEOPARDS ( FELIS PARDUS ), JAVAN BLACK PANTHER ( PANTHERA PARDUS ) INCLUDING A MANGROVE BOBCATS AND VARIOUS SNAKES . IN ADDITION, THERE ARE ALSO 155 SPECIES OF BIRDS THAT LIVE IN THIS REGION SUCH AS A JAVAN EAGLE ( NISAETUS BARTELSI ), GREEN PEACOCK (PAVOMUTICUS), PATRIDGES ( GALLUS Sp ), VARIOUS SPARROWS,KINGFISHERS, WOODPECKERS, AND MANY MORE.

A GROUP OF KIJANG JAWA OR JAVAN DEERS ( MUNTIACUS MUNTJAK ) GO PASSING THROUGH  DRY SAVANNAH

SMALL AFRICAN ADVENTURE WILL BE REPRESENTED IN BALURAN NATIONAL PARK WHICH HAS SEVERAL OBSERVATION POSTS THAT CAN BE VISITED AND HAVE BECOME A TOURIST ATTRACTION IN THE SUB BALURAN. WE ALSO CAN DO SAFARI JOURNEY IN BEKOL AND SEMIANG SAVANNAH FOR OBSERVING ANIMALS, LIKE HEARING SOUNDS OF PARTRIDGES, SEE PEACOCKS FLOCK FLYING TOGETHER SIDE BY SIDE, AND ALSO SEE DANCING PEACOCK ATTRACTION IN THE BREEDING SEASON. THERE IS ALSO A GROUP OF JAVAN DEERS, JAVAN BULLS,  AND WILD BUFFALOS PASSING THROUGH THE SPACIOUS SAVANNAH. THERE IS ALSO MANY OTHER ACTIVITIES OF VARIOUS BIRDS LIKE A  JAVAN EAGLE ARE HUNTING FOOD  CAN  BE SEEN FROM A VIEWING TOWER.

PANTAI BAMA  AND PANTAI BALANAN ARE SOME OF THE POPULAR BEACHES AROUND THIS NATIONAL PARK WHICH CAN BE USED FOR RELAXING, SWIMMING, FISHING, SNORKLING. WE ALSO CAN SEE FIGHTS OF GREY MONKEYS TO SCRAMBLE AND CRAB FISHING, OR A GROUP OF DEERS DRINKING SALT WATER WHEN THE SEA RECEDED. A VERY RARE, AMAZING NATURE'S PHENOMENON THAT WE CAN'T SEE EVERYDAY.

BESIDE THE INDOOR ACCOMODATIONS, VISITOR CAN TRY AN OUTDOOR CAMPING GROUND SPOT AREA AND ALSO DON'T FORGET WE CAN VISIT TO THE IMPRESSIVE A MYSTERIOUS RELICS OF THE COLONIAL JAPANESE CAVES ,THAT WAS USED DURING WORLD WAR-II .

BALURAN NATIONAL PARK AREA IS NOT TOO FAR FROM MOUNT IJEN CRATER NATIONAL PARK AND ALSO ABOUT 4 - 5  HOURS DRIVE TO THE ALAS PURWO NATIONAL PARK, WHERE THE FAMOUS INDIAN OCEAN WORLD’S CLASS SURFING SPOT DESTINATION NAMELY G-LAND OR PLENGKUNG BEACH IN GRAJAGAN BAY AREA IS LOCATED. G-LAND IS FAMOUS FOR HAVING THE WORLD'S MOST COMPLETE TYPE OF CHALLANGE WAVES.
